From the moment you make an initial enquiry, through to becoming an approved foster carer, you’ll be supported by our specialist team.
You’ll be part of a valued team working to support the child, children or young person in your care. But we also support you, with a specialist social worker who gets to know you and your wider household.
We offer a range of support to all foster carers including:
- a supervising social worker to advise, guide and provide ongoing support
- access to a clinical psychologist to work with you to support children and young people with confidence
- support from a fostered child or young person’s social worker, to help understand their needs
- support from the wider fostering community including the York Area Foster Carer Association
- support groups and social opportunities to grow networks of foster carers
- linking with experienced foster carers
- membership of the Fostering Network which provides independent advice and help for foster carers
- an Emergency Duty Team (EDT) available to help with crises outside office hours
